I was looking for an apartment for a friend through CraigsList Boston. When I responded to an ad for one, I got a long-winded reply from "Wilma," who said she was a realtor for her daughter and would meet with me at a safe location to show us the apartment. She asked if I could first fill out the attached online application to get a credit report, so she could "see if there were any former landlord issues." I went to the link, started to plug in my information, including my bank card (my mistake), and then didn't continue, figuring my friend could complete the process later. The next morning, there was a $1 charge to my bank account, which I was suspicious of, and the next week there was a $29 charge -- all for a service I never requested and never received. Of course I never heard back from Wilma about showing us th apartment. When I called Privacy Matters to complain, I got a voice-mail menu that led nowhere, and there is no phone number on their web site. This company is fraudulent, and my bank is now investigating. Pathetic. Watch out! 128afb2
